Art

I’m a bit of an amateur art collector. Over the years, I have purchased a number of original pieces from local (Vancouver, B.C.) auction houses that deal mostly in storage locker foreclosures. These are some of the highlights:

- two large acrylic paintings by I, Braineater, aka. Jim Cummins, who is known for painting album covers for the Vancouver industrial band, Skinny Puppy.

 - a very nice wood-cut print by the well regarded North Vancouver printmaker, Alistair Bell, titled “Trees in the Dune”. I have a small, deeply textured oil painting titled “Lithikon – Miner King” by Canadian artist, sculptor and art scholar, George Swinton.

 - a landscape sketch in pencil from 1864 by New Zealand illustrator Emily Cumming Harris.

untitled, Terry ??? 1975 - multi-medium on canvas - 30 x 30untitled, by J. A. Davis 1966 - wood-cut print 20 x 16I have two pieces for which I have almost no information. One signed Terry ???? , and dated ’75 (left), and the other is an unnumbered original artist print, apparently wood-cut, signed J. A. Davis, and dated ’66 (right). I’d love to have any additional info on either of these two pieces.  I can’t make out Terry’s last name on the first piece, and I’m not 100% sure of the “A” in J. A. Davis, as it looks like a large lower case cursive “a”.
